(a) The structure of the given compound is as follows:


Xenon trifluoride is formed by the heating the mixture of the elements xenon and fluorine in the fixed ratio of 1:5 in presence of catalyst nickel and at a temperature of 400° C. It is used as a decomposing agent in manufacture of silicon rubber.


(b) The structure of the given compound is as follows:



Halogens mutually combine together to form a remarkable set of compounds of general formula XYn where both the X and Y are halogen atoms and n is the integer having the values 1,3,5, or 7. These compounds are called as interhalogen compounds


In this case BrF5 (Bromine Pentafluoride) belongs to the type of XY5 and thus have a square pyramidal structure. BrF5 is a colorless liquid.
