What is the nature of roots of the quadratic equation 4x2 – 12x – 9 = 0?

To check the roots of the equation we will check the value of d = b2 – 4ac

Here a = 4, b = 12 and c = – 9


So d = (12)2 – 4 x 4 x – 9


= 144 + 144


= 288 which is real


So the roots of the given equation are Real and distinct
