Q11 of 18 Page 1

Answer the following in 150-200 words :

What are Helen’s views about the works of Shakespeare?

Helen Keler was an avid reader and an admirer of Shakespeare as a writer. She had read many of her plays but ‘Macbeth’ was her favorite. She even said that for a long time the ghost and witches pursued her even into Dreamland. She could see the dagger and Lady Macbeth's little white hand- then dreadful stain was as real to her as to the grief stricken queens.

Soon after ‘Macbeth’ Helen read ‘King Lear’ and she could never forget the feeling of Horrors when she came to the scene in which Gloucester's eyes are put out. She also said that anger would take over her, fingers would refuse to move after reading the works of Shakespeare. She liked the plays by Shakespeare so much that she read them multiple times. She also had many of them by heart. Later she studied the works of Shakespeare academically under Professor Kittredge.
