Q1 of 25 Page 91

Choose the correct alternative answers for the following questions.

If 3x + 5y =9 and 5x + 3y =7 then What is the value of x + y?

3x + 5y = 9 eq.[1]

5x + 3y = 7 eq.[2]

Adding eq.[1] and eq.[2] we get

3x + 5y + 5x + 3y = 9 + 7

⇒ 8x + 8y = 16

Dividing both side by 8, we get

⇒ x + y = 2
