Q2 of 23 Page 1

Attempt any four subquestions from the following:

For solving the following simulataneous equations by Cramer’s rule, find the value of Dx and Dy:3x-y = 7; x + 4y = 11.

Given: 3x-y = 7; x + 4y = 11.

Dx =

Dx = ad - cb

= (7 × 4) – (11 × -1)

= 28 – (-11)

= 28 + 11 = 39

Dy =

Dy = ad - cb

= (3 × 11) – (1 × 7)

= 33 – 7

= 26
