Solve Question:

A test tube has diameter 20 mm and height is 15 cm. The lower portion is a hemisphere. Find the capacity of the test tube.

As mentioned in the question the test tube comprises of a cylinder and a hemisphere.


The length(l)and radius(r) of cylinder is 15 & 20 mm respectively.


Capacity of test tube = volume of cylinder + volume of hemisphere.


volume of cylinder = π r2 l


volume of hemisphere =


Capacity of test tube = π × 202 × 15 + × π × 203


= 35437.165 mm3.
