Tahir measured the distance around a square field as 200 rods (lathi). Later he found that the length of this rod was 140cm. Find the side of this field in metres.

Given:

Distance around square field = 200 rods

Perimeter of field = 200 rods

200 × 140 = 4 × side

28,000 / 4 = side

side = 7000

1m = 100 cm

∴ Side of field = 70 m
