Let the interest received by Karim be ₹x, then interest received by Ramesh will be ₹ (x – 30). So, the interest received by both will be ₹ (x + x – 30)


According to the question, x + x – 30 = 70


⇒ 2x – 30 = 70


⇒ 2x = 70 + 30


⇒ 2x = 100


⇒ x = 50


So, interest received by Ramesh = ₹ (x – 30) = ₹ (50 – 30) = ₹20.
