Twice a number added to half of itself equals 24. Find the number.

Let the number be x. then, twice of this number = 2x and half of this number


According to the question,


Multiplying both sides by 2, we get 4x + x = 48


⇒ 5x = 48

⇒ x = 9.6


Hence, the required number is 9.6.
