Two times a number increased by 5 equals 9. Find the number.

Let the number be x.


It is given that two times this number increased by 5 equals 9


∴ 2x + 5 = 9


⇒ 2x = 9 – 5


⇒ 2x = 4


⇒ x = 2


Hence, the required number is 2.
