Why Al metal cannot be obtained by the reduction of Al2O3 with coke? Explain.

Aluminium has far greater affinity for oxygen as compared to carbon because of which carbon cannot separate oxygen from aluminium oxide. Hence Al metal cannot be obtained by the reduction of Al2O3 with coke.
