“Say no to plastic bags” is a very common slogan. Plastic materials should be replaced by alternative materials. Plastics are non-biodegradable and take thousands of years to decompose. Burning plastic materials pose even a bigger problem as it adds up to air pollution.

We should use paper bags instead of plastic bags. Paper is biodegradable and is also decomposed by microorganisms. Moreover, it takes less energy to produce paper. Paper is more environment-friendly.

NOTE:

Paper being biodegradable should not be used excessively as it leads to deforestation. Instead, paper should be recycled and not disposed of carelessly.

We have seen that shopping stores give away plastic bags for free and charge some amount for paper bags. This practice should be curbed. People should be encouraged to use more environment-friendly products. Gradually, the use of plastic bags should be stopped.
