Find the fraction which becomes 2/3 when the numerator is increased by 2 and is equal to 4/7 when the denominator is increased by 4.

Let the fraction be

According to the question



3x + 6 = 2y


……(i)


and also,



⇒ 7x = 4y +16



⇒ 14y – 42 = 12y + 48


⇒ 14y – 12y = 48 + 42


⇒ 2y = 90


⇒ y = 45


Now put the value in eq (i),





x = 28
