The difference between the two angles is 20°. If these angles are complementary, find the angles.

Let the two angles be x and y.


Given: x and y are complementary angles.


We know, the sum of two complementary angles is 90°.


x + y = 90°


It is also given that x – y = 20°


Adding these two equations,


(x + y) + (x – y) = 90° + 20°


2x = 110°



We have, x – y = 20°


Putting the value of x in the equation we get,


y = x 20°


y = 55° 20°


y = 35°


Thus, the two angles are 55° and 35°.
