The Parliament consists of an upper house and lower house i.e. Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha respectively.

The electoral functions of the Parliament are:

• The elected member of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are the member of the electoral college that elects the President. (The elected members of state assemblies and Union Territories are also part of the electoral college).

• The elected & nominated members of the Parliament elect the Vice President.
