Q1 of 360 Page 102

Differentiate between the following

(i) Endocytosis and exocytosis

(ii) Cis and trans faces of Golgi apparatus

(iii) Chromosome and chromatid

(iv) Write function of nucleolus

(i) Differences between the endocytosis and exocytosis:

Endocytosis

Exocytosis

It is the process of ingestion of substances by the cell through plasma membrane.

It the process of expel molecules outside the cell.

It involves the formation of vesicles containing the substances.

In exocytosis, the vesicles containing the waste substances fuse with the plasma membrane

Endocytosis helps to bring molecules inside the cells.

Release enzymes, hormones, proteins and glucose to be used in other parts of the body.

(ii) Differences between the Cis and trans faces of Golgi apparatus:

Cis face

Trans face

The convex forming face of Golgi apparatus is called cis face.

The concave maturing face of Golgi apparatus is called Trans face.

It receives vesicles from endoplasmic reticulum.

It produces secretory vesicles and lysosomes.

(iii) Differences between the chromosome and chromatid:

Chromosome

Chromatid

Chromosome is a single form of DNA and protein that found inside the nucleus.

Chromatid is sister or exact replica of a chromosome that is formed during the cell division.

Chromosome is vector of heredity.

Chromatid enables these cells to replicate.

(iv) Function of nucleolus: Nucleolus helps in protein synthesis by forming and storing RNA.
