Using integration, find the area of the region in the first quadrant enclosed by the x – axis, the line y = x and the circle x2 + y2 = 32.

First let us find the intersection points,

Put y = x in x2 + y2 = 32

∴


2x2 = 32

x2 = 16

x = ±4

And as y = x, y = ±4

So, the intersection points are (-4, -4), (4, 4)
