Steps taken by Lord Wellesley to clean up the city of Calcutta were :


1. An administrative order called Minute was written by Wellesley in 1803 for the purpose of town planning and setting up committees.


2. Many bazaars, ghats, burial grounds, and tanneries were cleared or removed.

Neo-Gothic style of architecture came into the picture in the 18th century England.


1) It has pointed arches which are used for windows or doors and detailed decorative elements like the roof gables or porches usually painted in rich colors.


2) St. Paul’s Cathedral in Kolkata, Calcutta high court and Mutiny memorial, New Delhi are some of the examples of neo-gothic styled architecture in India.
