Q1 of 33 Page 11

What is the difference of AB and AC when the construction of a triangle ABC, given that BC = 3 cm, DC = 60° is possible?

(i) 2.8 cm

(ii) 3.4 cm

(iii) 4 cm

(iv) 3.1 cm

We know that the difference of any two sides of a triangle is less than the third side.

So, (AB – AC) must be less than 3 cm.

When AB – AC = 2.8 cm, the condition satisfies.

The construction of the given ΔABC is possible when difference of AB and AC is equal to 2.8 cm.
