Why are the fertilizer industries widespread throughout the country?

India is the third largest producer of nitrogenous fertilisers. Important producing centres include Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Assam, West Bengal, Goa, and Karnataka. The factors responsible for it being widespread throughout the country are as follows:

1. The chemicals required in the fertilizer industry are available throughout the country.

2. Green Revolution increased the production, increasing the demand for fertilizers in different parts of the country.

3. Fertilizer can be transported through pipelines to far off places which causes decentralization.

4. Apart from this, there is a high demand for fertilizers in the domestic and international market.
