Q8 of 26 Page 1

Find out the wavelength of the electron orbiting in the ground state of hydrogen atom.

For electron revolving in nth orbit and having radius of orbit as rn we

have,

Where,

n = number of the orbit

λ = wavelength

rn = radius of the orbit

For electron orbiting in ground state,

λ=2π×0.53 Å [ ∵ n = 1 ; rn = 0.53 Angstroms]

∴ λ = 2π × 0.53

= 3.331 Å
