Q9 of 25 Page 13

A charged particle enters at right angle into an a uniform magnetic field as shown. What should be the nature of charge on te particle if ti begins to move in a diretion pointing vertically out of the page due to its interaction with magnetic field? ( CBSE 2009)

Using fleming’s left hand rule we can easily find out the nature of the charge on the particle is positive.

7 A compass needle is placed near a current carrying wire. State your observation for the following cases, and give reasons for the same in each case.
(a) The magnitude of electric current in the wire is increased
(b) The compass needle is displaced away from the wire. ( CBSE 2009)

What is the meaning of the term ‘frequency’ of an alternating current? What is its value in India? Why is an alternating current considered to be advantageous over direct current for long range transmission of electric energy?

10

What is a solenoid? Draw the pattern of magnetic field lines of solenoid
