The magnetic field associated with a current carrying conductor is in anticlockwise direction. If the conductor was held alon ghte east-west direction, whaat will be the direction of current through it? Name and state the rule applied to determine the direction of current ( CBSE 2011)

Direction of current: east to west is derterminedd by right hand thumb rule.


Right -hand thumb rule:


If we hold a current carrying conductor by right hand in such a way that the stretched thumb is along the direction of current ,then the curl finger around the conductor represent the direction of the field lines.
