A nation is a term that could be defined as a community which successfully attained a state of its own. In earlier times, it was false to say that a single state represents only one nation or that every nation should have own state. Some ethnic groups or people or population are working towards forming a state and even the existing states want to assert their power to show that they represent a nation. One of the features of the Modern era is that institution of democracy and nationalism has become the central foundation of the political authority. It implies that ‘the nation’ has become the validated reason for a state where people are the fundamental source of authority of the nation. Thus, it could be said that “States need the nation as much or even more than nations need states.”
