How is globalisation taking people in the direction of loneliness?

Due to the globalisation, the job opportunities in the cities have been increased. This led to the migration of workers from rural areas to the cities. For example – the workers were usually migrants. Along the coastline, in the fish processing plants, they have generally single young women came from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. 10 to 12 of these workers are accommodated in small rooms and have to do one shift which makes way for another.

Young women are considered to be submissive and passive workers who are easy to work under any authority. Not only women but men also migrate who are either unmarried or leave their family at the village only. According to the estimation of 1992, out of 2 lakh Oriya migrants in Surat, 85% of them were single. These workers have no time to socialise and whatever money they earn usually gets spend with other migrant workers. In a country like India where we have Joint family culture, but due to globalisation workers tend to migrate end up being in the direction of loneliness and helplessness. Thus, it is true that globalisation is taking people in the direction of loneliness but for some young women, such opportunities mean freedom and economic autonomy.

NOTE – Globalisation is a term used to describe the process by which organisations and businesses trying to create global influence or at an international scale.
