Minerals can be classified on the basis of chemical and physical properties in the following:

a) Metallic minerals: These are the source of minerals. For example, iron ore and coal.


b) Non-metallic minerals : They are either organic or inorganic. Organic or mineral fuels are derived from the buried animal and plant life..For example, coal and petroleum Inorganic in origin are limestone,mica etc
