The population of the world on the basis of their residence into

two groups are rural and urban.


a) An area located in the outskirts is called rural area. The urban area has the features of a built environment.


b) Rural are those areas where the people are engaged in primary activities and urban areas are those where the majority of the working population is engaged in non-primary activities.


c) Rural areas includes villages and urban areas includes citis and towns.


d) Rural areas are sparasely populated but the urban areas are densely populated.


e) Rural areas develop randomly on the basis of availabilty of resources. Urban areas have a planned development path.
