How do the principles of Jainism influence Indian thinking?

Jainism emphasized the principle of ahimsa (non- violence). This notion greatly influenced Indian thinking. Leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi adopted this Principle and propagated the idea. He led a peaceful and non-violent movement against the British. Jainism also emphasized the notion of karma. This idea is also deeply intrinsic to Indian thinking.
