What is agriculture?

Agriculture falls under the primary sector of economic activities which deals with the usage of natural resources. The science and practice of farming including growing of crops, fruits, vegetables, flowers and the rearing of livestock is called agriculture. Around 50% of the world’s population is engaged in agriculture. India’s economy is agriculture based as two-thirds of its population is dependent on it.
