Which economic groups are most vulnerable to poverty?

Most vulnerable groups:-

i) Backward castes - On the Hindu religion caste system is practised. It is a five-fold hierarchical system that dominates every aspect of life. It allots specific jobs for the backward castes while the upper castes enjoy all powers and opportunities. The lower caste is even deprived of their basic fundamental rights.

ii) Women - Women are a very vulnerable group as Indian Society is a patriarchal (male-dominated) society. Still in many areas women are not allowed to work outside and engage themselves in household chores.

iii) Children (especially girls) - Children are dependent on their parents. On many areas sons receive education and daughters are deprived of it. Daughters were considered as a burden on their father. Many poor families send their children to work as child labour to earn for the family.
