What are the causes of river pollution? How can it be prevented?

The two sources of water pollution which are caused by human beings are-

a. Various forms of daily waste which are generated in sewers, pipelines and households is released into the rivers without being treated.


b. Industrial effluents, tonnes of which is produced every day, is released into the rivers/water bodies, causing a high degree of chemical damage.


It can be prevented by employing the foll techniques:


(a) The waste generated by the industries should be treated before its release in the rivers.


(b) There should be awareness among the people to not throw wastes in the rivers.


(c) There should be proper punishment for such acts.
