Account for urbanisation in England


1. Industrialisation led to urbanisation in England. Massive amounts of men and women left their villages to come to cities, and work in the newly established factories and mills.


2. This was coupled with a decline in agriculture. As people left for towns, agricultural activities took a back-seat, and gradually the share of agriculture in total employment plummeted.


3. Migration, urbanisation and population growth became key social indicators of the Industrial Revolution, and many small towns blossomed into large industrialised cities.
