Attempt a note on Haymarket Massacre

1. The Haymarket Massacre occurred on 4^th May 1886 at the Haymarket Square in Chicago.

2. The workers were protesting against the long working hours, and demanded that the work-day be shortened to 8 hours. It was a peaceful rally.

3. However, the police opened fire at the crowd, wounding and killing many protestors.

4. It was a sad event, and has since been immortalised by celebrating Labour Day on 1^st May every year.
