What is hydrological cycle?

The movement of water above and below the earth’s surface is called as hydrological surface. The three major processes involved are evaporation, condensation and precipitation.

The water moves through its various forms – from liquid to gas to solid ice. This movement is governed by a natural cycle that involves evaporation of liquid ice into gaseous water vapour in the presence of sunlight (as water temperature increases), precipitation in the form of rain. Some of this water also gets stored as solid ice in glaciers and ice caps, and some may seep underground to fill in the aquifers. This natural cyclical movement of water from the surface, to the atmosphere and below the surface makes up the hydrological cycle.
