Give reasons for the following:

The northern hemisphere and the southern hemisphere are called land and water hemispheres respectively.


As the northern hemisphere holds 61% of landmass it is called as the land hemisphere whereas the southern hemisphere holds 81% of water it is called as the water hemisphere.


The Equator at 0-degree latitude divides the Earth into 2 halves called the hemisphere. The Northern hemisphere is composed of predominantly landmass (61%), hence it is also called as land hemisphere. Whereas the southern hemisphere with 81% water cover is called as the water hemisphere.
