Give reasons for the following:

The ocean waters are saline in nature.

as the rain falls on the rocks present in the land the water from the rocks goes over to ocean and thus the oceans are saline in nature.

Ocean water are saline due to the dissolved mineral content. This is due to the erosional activities of the river water, which erodes rocks and ultimately flow into the oceans. The two most common minerals (ions) found in seawater are chloride and sodium, these minerals chemically combine to form sodium chloride or salt.
