How did colonial rule affect tribal lives?

Colonial rule affected the tribal lives in the following ways-

a. Forests were the lifeline for tribals but Britishers declared it as state property.

b. Tribals were not allowed to enter in the forests and they were not allowed to do shifting cultivation.

c. They were also restricted to collect fruits, food and woods.

d. Many tribal chiefs were lost their administrative powers and had to follow the rules which were formulated by the British

e. They had to pay taxes to the British.

f. They were exploited by moneylenders and traders.

g. In the colonial rule, tribals were recruited at extremely low wages and were not allowed to go back to their home.
