What objections did the sepoys have to the new cartridge that they were asked to use?

The new cartridges were suspected of being coated with cows and pigs fat. The introduction of these cartridges made Hindus and Muslims very annoyed and offended and affected the religious sentiments. They felt that Britishers were trying to insult their religions. This was the reason they refused to use new cartridges.
