Which languages are spoken in Belgium?

The ethnic composition of Belgium is very complex. 59% of the country’s total population lives in the Flemish region and speaks Dutch. Another 40% live in the Wallonia region and speak French. The remaining 1% of the people speak German.


In the capital city of Brussels, however, the situation is completely different. 80% of the people there speak French and 20% are Dutch-speaking.
