Name and explain the phenomenon of evolution exhibited by Australian marsupials.

The phenomenon of evolution exhibited by Australian marsupials is called “adaptive radiation”. A number of marsupials evolved, from a common ancestral stock, but all within the Australian Island continent.

It is the process of evolution of different species in a given geographical area starting from a point and literally radiating to other areas of geography.
