The three basic steps involved in genetically modifying an organism are:

a. Identification- The DNA with desirable genes is identified and cutat specific location with Restriction Endonuclease.

b. Formation of rDNA-The desired cut piece of DNA is then linked to plasmid of vector using DNA ligase. This leads to the formation of rDNA.

c. Maintenance and Transfer- The rDNA is then transferred to new host for replication using DNA polymerase of the host where it is maintained and transferred to its progeny.
