Why are the antibodies produced by the B- lymphocytes referred to as H₂L₂? Give a reason.

The antibodies are made up of 4 polypeptide chains. Of which, 2 are long chains which are referred to as the heavy chains or H chains and 2 are short chains which are referred to as the light chains or L chains. Therefore, the antibodies produced by the B- lymphocytes are referred to as H₂L₂.
