How do the surgical methods of contraception (sterilisation) prevent contraception? Mention one advantage and one disadvantage of this method.

These surgical methods block the gamete transport and prevent contraception. This method of contraception in males is called as vasectomy and in females is called as tubectomy.

Explanation: In these techniques, a small part of the fallopian tube (in females) or vas deferens (in males) is removed or tied up to prevent the transfer of ovum or sperms respectively.


Advantage- They are highly effective.


Disadvantage: They are irreversible.
