Explain the term ‘tourism’.

‘Tourism’ is defined as the travel made by people solely for recreational purpose and not for any other purpose like a business. Tourism has emerged as the world’s largest tertiary activity in total registered jobs. Tourism generates a large amount of employment to local people residing at the tourist spots. The employment is generated for these people because they provide various services to tourists like accommodation, food, entertainment etc. Tourism also fosters the growth of infrastructure, retail trading and also small-scale cottage industries in the tourist spots.
