Q2 of 10 Page 2

Explain the main reasons for the migration of males and females separately in India.

Within India, people tend to migrate from rural to urban regions majorly because of high population pressure over land, poverty, absence of basic infrastructural facilities such as education, health care, etc.

Work as well as employment is included in the major causes of male migration that accounts to about 38 percent whereas it is three percent for females. In contrast, around 65 percent of females tend to move out from their parents’ houses after their marriage, with only two percent of marriage migration happening among males in India. This is the most significant cause relating to migration of males as well as females.
