Why do people migrate? State the four streams of migration in India.

People tend to migrate to locations dissimilar from their origin for different reasons that may be categorized into push as well as pull factors. Push factors involve those factors that make the location of origin seem less attractive and include poor living state, unemployment, unpleasant climate, political turmoil, epidemics, social-economic backwardness and natural disasters. In contrast, pull factors involve those factors that make the location of destination seem more attractive in comparison to the location of origin. These factors include better living conditions and job opportunities, stability and peace, property and security of life, and pleasant climate.
