How would you set up a circuit to obtain NOT gate using a transistor?

Here we are using the transistor as a switch. When Q=0, i.e. the base is at 0 V. This makes the transistor to turn off. Hence we get +Vcc at the output.



When Q=1, i.e. the base is at +5v.This makes the transistor to turn on. That means the current goes to ground through the transistor. Hence we get 0v at the output.
