(ii) IUPAC name of the complex


When the coordination compound is mixed with AgNO3 the chloride ions satisfying the primary valence of Pt are dissolved and ions inside the coordination complex does not involve in the reaction as they are in coordination sphere and linked with strong covalent bonds.


As we get 4 moles of AgCl during the reaction, we conclude that the 4 chloride ions satisfy the primary valence and are outside the coordination complex ion and the 6 NH3 molecules acts as ligands that satisfy the secondary valence. Thus the structure of the compound is given as:
