Suggest and explain any three ways to protect land from degradation in various states of India.

Three ways through which we can protect land from degradation is as following :

a. Afforestation - Planting trees in a depleted or recovering forests helps to restore the ecosystem of the area, but planting trees in a barren land helps to create a new ecosystem.

b. Management of grazing- The intensity of grazing can create a soil compaction and lead to surface runoff. However, through management practices, such as avoiding overgrazing can reduce soil erosion.

c. Control of mining activities- The activity to extract useful substances from the ground has negative impact on the land and soil. Mining can become more environmentally sustainable through proper waste disposal and improving manufacturing process.
