Q4 of 68 Page 15

A rectangular piece is 20m long and 15m wide. From its four corners, quadrants of radii 3.5m have been cut. Find the area of the remaining part.

Length of rectangle = 20m2

Breadth of rectangle = 15m2

Area of rectangle = 20×15 = 300m2

Radius of quadrant = 3.5m2

Area of quadrant =

Area of quadrant =

Area of 4 quadrant = = 2×19.25 = 38.50m2

Area of remaining part = (area of rectangle-area of 4 quadrant)

Area of remaining part = 300 – 38.50 = 261.5m2
